Stand Up for Jobs, And Against Scott Walker
Tomorrow at 5 p.m. in Milwaukee, you can join hundreds of our friends from the AFL-CIO in standing up for Wisconsin jobs and against Scott Walker's promise to kill the rail project that would create thousands of them.
It's Thanksgiving week, but instead of celebrating new jobs from already-allocated money, we are put in the position of trying to stop Walker from starting his administration with the preventable death of thousands of jobs on his hands.
The site for tomorrow's vigil is appropriate, not only because it is at the site of Talgo, a manufacturer that has announced it will send its jobs to Illinois if Walker has his way.
This site is also part of a massive manufacturing complex that was shuttered as a result of those unfair Republican trade deals that have sent Wisconsin jobs overseas.
Now that the campaign is over, Scott Walker is being forced to admit that he was lying all along about what would happen to the already-allocated money, that it is a "use it or lose it" proposition.
There are still too many folks without jobs for Scott Walker to throw away these jobs to appease the angry talk show hosts who don't know what it's like for Wisconsin's working families. It's time for us to stand up for what's right.
WHAT: A candlelight vigil to save Wisconsin jobs.
WHEN: 5 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010
WHERE: Talgo's 27th St. Parking Lot, between Hopkins and Townsend, Milwaukee.
If you can make it, I urge you to stand up for Wisconsin jobs, and against Scott Walker starting his administration by killing them.
