By Mitch Wallace, Recall Campaign Director
I want you to meet Dan. He's one of several hundred recall petition verification volunteers across the state working in one of our more than 20 recall processing centers. Dan is from Stevens Point and his job is to carefully look over each recall petition that crosses his desk line-by-line, name-by-name to screen petitions for errors and mistakes.
It's a lot of painstaking paper work, but verifying all of the signatures we collect is a crucial part of the process to recall Scott Walker. It's also extremely expensive. In addition to paying for more than 20 processing centers, we have also purchased computers with specialized software to track each petition.
Dan personally checks more than 50 petitions each hour. With your donation of $10 or more, you will help keep our 20 recall processing centers open and keep Dan hard at work so he can verify more than 400 petitions each day.
After Dan checks each petition, they are then checked for errors by another volunteer who goes over each one, line-by-line, name-by-name. Then they are taken to a secured room where they are checked by a recall staff member for a third pair of eyes. After the final check by staff, the petition is then sealed in box and shipped to a secure vault at an undisclosed location (don't worry, it's a different undisclosed location from wherever it is that Dick Cheney goes these days).
Thanks to your efforts, we've already collected more than 300,000 signatures to recall Scott Walker. To verify all of these signatures, it takes several hundred volunteers and more than 20 quality control staff members working every day in processing centers across Wisconsin. That doesn't even take into account all the petitions volunteers are turning in to recall Rebecca Kleefisch and three of Scott Walker's cronies in State Senate.
We won't recall Scott Walker if we can't verify each petition before we turn them in to the Government Accountability Board. Your support now helps us keep these processing centers open and gives hope to volunteers, who like Dan, want to recall Scott Walker so we can elect a new governor that will stand up for Wisconsin workers and families.
