Scott Walker Receives "Joe McCarthy Renaissance Award" from Nonpartisan Wisconsin Political Blog
Days after his campaign and supporters hyped an award associated with a Republican governor jailed for corruption, Scott Walker received the Joe McCarthy Renaissance Award from PolitiScoop, a nonpartisan political blog.
The blog cited Walker's cuts to BadgerCare, massive tax giveaways to corporations and his attacks on workers' rights in bestowing the Joe McCarthy Renaissance Award on Walker.
Earlier, Republicans from Assembly Leader Jeff Fitzgerald to State Treasurer Kurt Schuller congratulated Walker on receiving year-end "Governor of the Year" laurels from a journal run by a Republican former chief of staff to felon John Rowland, former governor of Connecticut.
Though Walker's award came from a blatantly-partisan publication run by a party operative, news outlets throughout the state -- and the Walker campaign -- hyped the award.
PolitiScoop, based in Green Bay and in existence longer than the so-called "Governors Journal," noted the incongruity in presenting it's Joe McCarthy Renaissance Award to Walker.
