Reports to: Digital Director
Salary: $80,000 – $90,000/annually, generous benefits package
Location: Madison or Milwaukee, WI or Remote
Start date: Spring 2024

The Opportunity: As WisDems’ Deputy Digital Director, you’ll oversee the Party’s robust digital fundraising operation, focused on taking a holistic approach to attracting, growing, and retaining WisDems’ online audience. You’ll work directly with our Email and SMS team to craft, manage, and meet projections and ensure our programs are successfully executed. You’ll also oversee a consultant team focused on executing a large digital advertising budget to ensure the successful execution of donor acquisition and reactivation campaigns, as well as voter contact for down-ballot campaigns.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Line-managed the Email and SMS team and support in executing a nimble, high-ROI email and SMS programs.
  • Timeline and project manage digital ad initiatives (e.g., acquisition, direct-to-donate, electoral) to ensure key metrics and goals are met.
  • Develop an aggressive and holistic acquisition strategy to ensure steady list growth, and develop new programs for donor retention.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and partners to ensure a strong return on investment.
  • Establish program phases and metrics for success in collaboration with the Digital Director, and regularly deliver progress reports on program ROI. 
  • Manage direct reports in all aspects of their work and support their success in the role by conducting relevant coaching conversations, providing and receiving feedback, and creating an inclusive and engaging team culture. More specific tasks could include but are not limited to:
    • Managing and reviewing time off requests
    • Hiring new team members
    • Having constructive conversations with team members on performance
    • Building rapport and trust within your team
    • Leading projects and delegating tasks
  • On-year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election preparation as necessary.

Qualifications (Required):

  • Management Skills – Able to manage relationships within your team, bring out the best in your employees, and treat employees equitably across lines of difference; including but not limited to feedback, performance, and engagement.
  • Past Digital Success – Proven track record growing and managing successful digital operations across multiple platforms, including email, SMS, Facebook (organic and paid), Twitter, Google ads, SEO, and other online properties with written image, and video content to raise money, recruit volunteers, and drive voter engagement. 
  • Excellent Communication Skills – Outstanding writing and communication skills. 
  • Metrics Driven – Experience with digital metrics and experimentation.
  • Political Aptitude – Demonstrated ability to navigate sensitive political and partner relationships.

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Director-level experience in a major state or national political organization or campaign.
  • Proven track record as an organizer. 
  • Experience on a senior team working in collaboration with other departmental heads.
