Salary: $42,000-$52,000 generous benefits package
Location: Madison or Milwaukee, WI

The Opportunity: As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining our system for administration of all DPW payroll processes. You will assist the HR team with overseeing payroll to ensure that we are always in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain system for administration of hourly, union, non-union, and salaried payroll
  • Oversee payroll to ensure compliance with local, state and federal law
  • Process payroll in accordance with organization deadlines
  • Professionally and cordially respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, employee verifications, and deductions
  • Maintain accurate record retention of employee deductions including those related to benefits, garnishments, paid time off, bonuses, and accommodations
  • Provide excellent communication amongst the Operations team to ensure challenges are addressed as quickly as possible
  • Other tasks as needed.

  • Payroll Experience – Administered payroll for an organization and has a strong knowledge of all applicable laws and regulations in relation to payroll

Communicates well with others, including sharing context and asking questions to understand others’ perspectives. Communicates deadlines with appropriate urgency and strong follow through for reporting accountability and removing roadblocks for team efficiency. Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Experience with Rippling or other payroll processing software
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online or other accounting software
  • Experience with Google Suites
