Are you kidding me? Sen. Ron Johnson calls Gov. Nikki Haley An Immigrant. She’s not.
On Wednesday, launching yet more partisan attacks in response to President Obama’s State of the Union address, Sen. Ron Johnson innaccurately described South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley as an “immigrant,” while attempting to avoid confronting a question about Donald Trump.
While visiting The John Howell Show, the Senator was asked about the possibility of Haley getting backlash from Donald Trump supporters for her jab at the GOP frontrunner during her speech, Johnson said:
“That may be, but let’s face it. No two people agree on everything. And Governor Haley is an immigrant. She has powerful stories of being an immigrant. And experiencing discrimination herself. And so she’s obviously gonna react different to somebody who’s never experienced that. I tend to align myself more with Governor Haley’s comments on the issue.”
Gov. Haley is the daughter of Indian immigrants, but was born in South Carolina.
“Senator Johnson’s time as a Wisconsin Senator gets a little more embarassing each time he speaks,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Executive Director Kory Kozloski said on Friday. “Even after his mistake has been pointed out Johnson still hasn’t apologized or explained his bizzare claim.”
Johnson’s embarrassing comments are receiving national attention. Check out some of the coverage below:
