(MADISON, WI) — Yesterday, Senator Jon Erpenbach, Representative Chris Taylor, rheumatologist, professor, and health care consultant Timothy Harrington, and Lafayette County Supervisor Kriss Marion, who relied on prescription drugs, called out Trump’s broken promises to lower prescription drug costs. In addition, they called on members of both parties to join them in supporting H.R. 3 — the “Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act of 2019.”
The legislation would allow Medicare to negotiate prices on up to 250 drugs, bring down costs by up to 55%, and could save Medicare $345 billion, according to the CBO. Despite this, President Trump has refused to support the legislation, continuing to break his promises to lower prescription drug costs as well as allow Medicare to negotiate with the pharmaceutical industry.
