Associated Press: Veteran’s daughter upset with Johnson over Tomah VA

The daughter of a veteran who died at the Tomah VA Medical Center says she’s not happy Republican Sen. Ron Johnson mentioned her family’s story during a debate with Democrat Russ Feingold last week.
Candace Delis’ father, Thomas Baer, died at Tomah in 2015. Delis says Johnson promised to launch his own investigation after the inspector general didn’t find doctors or staff at fault, but didn’t follow through.
Johnson’s campaign says the senator took “immediate and effective action” in the deaths of veterans including Baer. They provided a letter he sent the VA soon after Baer’s death asking for an examination of his treatment.
The homeland security committee that Johnson leads also included a section on Baer’s death in a report on problems at Tomah following the inspector general’s review.
