ICYMI Video: Republican Congressman on Trump: “I believe he’s disqualified himself to be president.”
On Sunday, appearing on WISN’s UpFront with Mike Gousha, Wisconsin GOP Congressman Reid Ribble reiterated that he will not support Donald Trump, should he become the Republican party nominee.
Ribble listed a series of offensive and hateful statements by Trump, including derogatory comments about Mexican people, women, and Trump’s mocking of a disabled reporter as reasons the GOP Congressman could not support the New York billionaire. Ribble also called Trump’s proposal to ban Muslim’s from the country “unconstitutional.”
Trump still refuses to back down from his call to ban Muslim immigration into the United States, even citing a widely critized poll from the Center for Security Policy as evidence of support for his immigration plan. The Center for Security Policy is an anti-Islamic think-tank run by Frank Gaffney, an outspoken Ron Johnson supporter and “notorious Islamophobe,” according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups.
Although the Center for Security Policy and Donald Trump continue to receive widespread condemnation from Republicans and Democrats alike, Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson has refused to denounce Trump. Johnson, who has compared his campaign to Trump’s in the past, says he will support the divisive business mogul should he become the party’s nominee.
