Wisconsin Leaders & Organized Labor Call on Ron Johnson to Support Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal
Madison, Wis. — Today, as the bipartisan infrastructure deal moves forward, leaders from across the state are calling on Johnson to stop playing political games and support the deal. Read what Wisconsin leaders have to say below:
Milwaukee Common Council President Cavalier Johnson: Senator Ron Johnson has decided to put his own self interest first and fight against a bipartisan infrastructure bill that will help us fix our crumbling roads and bridges as well as give small businesses the support they need to thrive. For the sake of our community and all of Wisconsin, Sen. Johnson needs to stop his Washington antics and do what’s best for the people of Wisconsin.
La Crosse Mayor Mitch Reynolds: Fixing our roads and other vital infrastructure can’t happen without serious federal support, on top of our continued state investment. Supporting this infrastructure bill should be a no-brainer. I hope Senator Ron Johnson can put his own political agenda aside and help pass this bill for Wisconsinites.
Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels: Senator Ron Johnson is once again putting partisan political games ahead of supporting Wisconsin communities. Wisconsinites deserve access to good paying jobs and needed infrastructure investment. Ron Johnson should immediately change course and support this bill.
Fox Valley State Representative Lee Snodgrass: Once again Senator Ron Johnson is playing political games with the Fox Valley’s well-being, as he tries to obstruct the passage of the bipartisan infrastructure bill that will create good jobs for Wisconsinites and support our small business community. Senator Johnson had it right when he said he may not be the best candidate to represent Wisconsin — his self-serving agenda does nothing to help the community we both represent.
AFL-CIO Wisconsin President Stephanie Bloomingdale: If Ron Johnson cared about Wisconsin’s workers, businesses, and the economy, he’d stop his self-serving political games and join the bipartisan effort to deliver a desperately needed infrastructure bill. Ron Johnson’s crusade against bipartisanship is emblematic of what’s wrong with politicians like himself who seem to care more about scoring points in DC than delivering for the people they’re supposed to represent.
