Today, following the news that Anthem Health Insurance would no longer be participating in Wisconsin’s health care marketplace, D.C. Leah tried to avoid admitting that her policies helped cause their departure.
Anthem Health Insurance directly addressed why they were pulling out of Wisconsin and D.C. Leah is a clear culprit. Anthem Health Insurance statement squarely places blame for leaving Wisconsin’s marking place on the, “Continual changes and uncertainty in federal operations, rules and guidance, including cost sharing reduction subsidies and the restoration of taxes on fully insured coverage.”
But for years D.C. Leah has been on board with destroying the Affordable Care Act no matter the outcomes for millions of Americans who could lose coverage. Starting in April of 2013, D.C. Leah’s campaign website has said, “I oppose ObamaCare and will continue to fight against its implementation in Wisconsin.”
In her statement today, D.C. Leah claimed that she supports returning to “care through innovative solutions we had before Obamacare.” Most Americans remember that those “innovative solutions” before the Affordable Care Act left millions without inadequate or no health care coverage.
“D.C. Leah has fought to destroy the Affordable Care Act since before it was fully enacted and her efforts have made Wisconsin’s health care marketplace ‘volatile,’ helping to cause insurance companies like Anthem Health Insurance to pull out of the individual marketplace in Wisconsin,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Brandon Weathersby. “We know she supports repeal of Obamacare, and with it, the protections for those with pre-existing conditions, but does she support Speaker Paul Ryan’s plan that would leave 23 million Americans without coverage? What ‘innovative solutions’ will D.C. Leah propose to address coverage for those Americans?”
