Leah Vukmir Wants Dick Uihlein To “Buy A Wisconsin Senate Seat” For Her

Billionaires Dick Uihlein and Diane Hendricks are teaming up to take on Tammy Baldwin and buy a U.S. Senator who will work for them and their special interest agenda

MADISON — A week after Republican U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir “accus[ed] a billionaire donor of attempting to buy a Wisconsin U.S. Senate seat,” she’s now asking him for his support at a billionaire “unity” fundraiser tonight.

Billionaire megadonor Dick Uihlein spent nearly $11 million trying to buy Wisconsin’s Republican U.S. Senate primary for Kevin Nicholson. And on August 6, Vukmir, herself, correctly observed that Uihlein is “spending as much money as he is to in essence almost try and buy a senate seat and that’s not what Wisconsin politics is about.”

But now that she’s secured the Republican nomination, Vukmir has opened a back-channel of her own with Uihlein. Earlier this week, Vukmir said, “We are already reaching out to Dick Uihlein,” adding “I hope that he will want to continue with his commitment.”

“Vukmir herself admitted that billionaire Dick Uihlein is trying to buy a U.S. Senator who will work for him, rather than Wisconsin families, and now she’s openly trying to be his personal Senator,” said Brad Bainum, Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson for the 2018 Senate race. “It’s deeply troubling given Leah Vukmir’s long record of putting her corporate special interest backers first.”
