Wineke Statement on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Jan 20, 2008

Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chairman Joe Wineke issued the following statement today, in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day:

“Today we honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

“As we honor his life today, let us rededicate ourselves to advancing the principles and the cause for which Dr. King gave his life. Dr. King had a vision of a better America – a country where equality, social justice, and civil rights existed for all Americans.  He dreamed of a society free of racial ills – a society unified by peace and prosperity.

“As we move forward, we know we must work together in Dr. King’s image to forge common ground and bring about the change Americans are calling for. Dr. King inspired movements with his message of peace with social justice. Today as we honor his life, we remain committed to these values Dr. King worked for.”
