Over 40 Wisconsin Students Plan to Attend CDA National Convention

MADISON – Over 40 Wisconsin college students, from all corners of the state, will be heading to Denver, Colorado for the start of the College Democrats of America (CDA) National Convention on Friday. Wisconsin will be sending one of the largest delegations of students to this important weekend-long convention.

“It is great that Wisconsin is sending one of the largest delegations to Denver for the CDA Convention,” said Jason Rae, Chair of the College Democrats of Wisconsin. “Young people are going to play an important role in this fall’s election and we are glad to see so many students from Wisconsin excited and involved.”

During the weekend, the students will participate in trainings on get-out-the-vote and other best voter practices to engage young voters.  Additionally, students will attend caucus meetings, approve the CDA platform, and elect new national leadership.

“This is our opportunity to come together as college students and show our strong support of Senator Barack Obama and to learn the skills necessary to make sure that he and other Democrats win in November,” Rae said.

Those attending the convention will include everyone from incoming freshmen to outgoing seniors, with students coming from MarquetteUniversity, CarrollUniversity, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Madison, UW-Whitewater, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Milwaukee, and BeloitCollege.

The College Democrats of Wisconsin is the official youth arm of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. CDW has chapters at most two and four year universities across Wisconsin and works to involve young people in the party.
