DPW Chair Wineke Calls on Gard, Rep. Montgomery to
Donate Money to Victims of September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attacks
MADISON – After learning that John Gard spent 9/11 raising political campaign cash at a fundraiser yesterday with state Rep. Phil Montgomery, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Joe Wineke today called on Gard and Montgomery to donate the money they raised to victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
“On a day when John McCain and Barack Obama suspended partisan politics to honor the victims of 9/11, it is telling that John Gard found it fit to spend his day fundraising for a political campaign,” said Wineke. “I hope that John Gard and Phil Montgomery do what’s right and donate the money they raised to the victims and families affected by the September 11th terrorist attacks.”
Gard headlined yesterday’s fundraiser for Montgomery at the NationalRailroadMuseum in Ashwaubenon. The fundraiser was hosted by Arena Strategy Group, the Green Bay firm which is owned by Gard’s campaign consultant Mark Graul. Arena Strategy Group also coordinates consulting and fundraising efforts for Gard’s campaign for Congress.
