The trio of keynote speakers will accompany Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton, First Lady Jessica Doyle, Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin and other top elected women leaders at the Tribute, which honors women who have demonstrated a strong commitment to Democratic causes.
“We are extremely excited to have three prominent national women leaders coming to address Wisconsin Democrats at our Eleanor Roosevelt Tribute,” said Joe Wineke, Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. “These three women have all been on the front lines fighting for the change we need and we are privileged to have them in Wisconsin at such a critical time in our nation’s history.”
This year’s Eleanor Roosevelt Tribute will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel, located at

Held every year since 1999, the Eleanor Roosevelt Tribute honors women in Wisconsin who have displayed a commitment to Democratic causes and engagement in social activism. The event also pays tribute to the legacy of former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, who dedicated herself to enhancing the role of women in politics and government and improving the lot of the underprivileged.
Senator Klobuchar is a strong and innovative leader for the citizens of Minnesota and a rising national star. As the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Minnesota and one of two female Senators in the 110th U.S Congress freshman class, Klobuchar has been a trailblazer for women in government.
Chosen by Time Magazine as one of America’s Top Five Governors, Janet Napolitano is a proven leader who has focused on the issues that matter most, such as education and children, economic development and public safety.
As President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Cecile Richards has led the organization to many significant achievements, including its success in ensuring FDA approval of over-the-counter status for emergency contraception, and the launch of a nationwide campaign to provide medically accurate sex education for all young Americans.
