Report: Republicans Interested in Contacting Leinenkugel Campaign Need to Call Department of Commerce
MADISON – According to a media report this morning, Democratic Commerce Secretary Dick Leinenkugel has launched his Republican primary campaign for U.S. Senate by registering a website with his “state phone” as the contact for his campaign.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports this morning that:
“The Web site leinenkugelforsenate.com was registered in Leinenkugel’s name Monday, with his Menomonee Falls home address and state phone number.”
The website betterwhois.com confirms that Leinenkugel registered the website on Monday, the same day that he resigned his position with the Doyle Administration. Secretary Leinenkugel registered the website and used 608-266-7088 as the campaign contact number. Secretary Leinenkugel’s taxpayer funded phone line at the Department of Commerce is 608-266-7088.
“While many Republicans have already widely panned Secretary Leinenkugel’s candidacy, kicking off his campaign on the taxpayers dime isn’t going to make things any easier for him,” said Mike Tate, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.
