GOP Chairman Steele in Milwaukee,
Though Apparently Not for the Nightlife
MADISON – The GOP’s hard-partying chairman, Michael Steele, brought his entourage to Milwaukee Wednesday, but apparently wasn’t interested in the kind of nightclubbing that has made him a national laughingstock.
The jet-setting Steele’s visit went curiously unmentioned to the press by local Republicans, who also closed press access to a lavish champagne fundraiser for Scott Walker a few months back at the Pfister Hotel for John Ellis “Jeb” Bush.
“He loves the cameras, the private jets and the lavish parties, so why didn’t the Republicans let us show some Milwaukee gemuchlichkeit and roll out the barrel for Michael Steele?” Mike Tate, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin chair asked Wednesday. “We don’t know if they were there to give him suggestions, but if the fine-dining Scott Walker, Terrence Wall or Mark Neumann were there, we’re sure they had some good recommendations.”
