MADISON-Sean Duffy is putting politics over principles as he runs from his initial support of rationing Medicare and turning Social Security over to Wall Street.
That’s the assessment of Wisconsin’s own Paul Ryan, who in praising his own “Road Map To Ruin” that seeks to end the successful entitlement programs as we know them, accuses politicians like Duffy of outright cowardice.
“They’re talking to their pollsters and their pollsters are saying, ‘Stay away from this….'” Ryan was quoted as saying this week.
This spring, Sean Duffy was unequivocal about his support for the Ryan “Road Map To Ruin,” but at an event with retread extremist Newt Gingrich last week Duffy was backing off his earlier full-throated support.
“While we can’t help but be pleased that Sean Duffy sees the political danger in trying to shred Social Security and bleed Medicare dry, we still don’t think that typical politicians like him really understand why,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Friday. “Now even fellow Republicans are ashamed at the flip-flops of typical politicians like Sean Duffy.”
