MADISON – Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on Labor Day, 2010.
“Labor Day is a chance to celebrate the universal truth that the best social program is a family-supporting job. Key to this are the workers, the rights they’ve fought for and the dignity their work requires. This year, it is especially worth noting the great forces gathering now, funded by Wall Street and with the Republican Party as their chief vessel, that seek to continue the assault on fair-paying jobs. But Democrats know the meaning of work and we refuse to allow a return to the policies of reckless greed that got us into this mess. With candidates like Tom Barrett and Russ Feingold, we will continue to fight for a program that put jobs and families first.”
