China, Bahrain Interfere in Our Elections
MADISON – The Democratic Party of Wisconsin called on Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce to cease a new round of attack ads against federal, statewide and Legislative Democratic candidates paid for with funds solicited from foreign companies, including foreign-owned oil conglomerates.
WMC is the local affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which is using its general fund to pay for a massive effort to smear Democrats, including those here in Wisconsin, that oppose those unfair trade policies favored by GOP fat cats that send Wisconsin jobs overseas.
The Chamber solicits money for this general fund from businesses in Bahrain and China, according to recent reports from ThinkProgress.
“Those same foreign companies that benefit from Republican trade policies and dirt-cheap labor are now paying WMC for the privilege of killing Wisconsin jobs and shipping them overseas,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Monday. “It should be Wisconsin, and not China and Bahrain, that WMC listens to.”
