For Once, Paul Ryan Hides From the Spotlight

Jan 24, 2011

MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on Paul Ryan, who, along with Michele Bachmann, gave the Republican rebuttal to President Obama’s State of the Union Address tonight.

“Joining his Republican colleague Michele Bachmann in rebutting President Obama tonight, Paul Ryan missed an opportunity to spell out exactly the types of drastic cuts his detailed budget plan, his “Roadmap to Ruin,” means for working families in Wisconsin and in America more broadly. He had little to say about his radical plans to cut Medicare spending by issuing ration coupons to seniors, and neither did he talk about his desire to see the security of Wisconsin’s seniors turned over to his pals on Wall Street, or even his plans to end the successful S-CHIP program for children. Paul Ryan has for years craved and sought the spotlight. But tonight he chose instead to hide his extremist and damaging policies from the American people.”
