MADISON– Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate following the passing of Sargent Shriver.
“Our nation lost one of its greatest idealists today with the passing of Sargent Shriver. Working to fulfill the vision of those like Wisconsin’s Henry Reuss, Shriver used his time as the first director of the Peace Corps to make it a symbol for our highest ideals. Later, with a hand in successful programs like Head Start, Shriver showed that the measure of our prosperity was how we treated those most in need. We mourn his passing.”
