MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on the 50th anniversary of John Kennedy’s Inauguration.
“Fifty years ago, a divided nation came together to hear the stirring words of John F. Kennedy, who spoke to inspire our better nature and said, “The trumpet summons us once again,” to take the lead in science, in industry, in humanities, in ideals of freedom. Today in Wisconsin, we are faced with the same narrow-minded forces as back then, seeking profit for the very few instead of advancement of the many. But there is a better way, and President Kennedy understood that 50 years ago, when he said that “God’s work must truly be our own.””
