MADISON– Scott Walker’s lock-step Legislature yesterday voted to privatize the Department of Commerce and replace it with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, potentially putting local business development programs at risk.

“Scott Walker and his Republican cronies promised jobs, jobs, jobs, yet none of the bills in their special session have created a single one,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Thursday. “Now it seems that this piece of legislation goes even further and actually puts jobs and job creation at risk.”
