Voted Against Project He Now Claims to Support
MADISON-In a classic example of partisan political doublespeak, Jeff Stone on Thursday actually claimed to support the Zoo Interchange project he previously voted to kill.
In one of hundreds of votes against Milwaukee County in an otherwise undistinguished 12-year career in Madison, the Republican insider voted in October, 2007, against the conference report for the budget that included $24 million to begin the Zoo Interchange construction.
He apparently did an about-face yesterday, the latest in a series of reckless moves seeking to shore up right-wing support for his bid to county executive.
“Only a Republican insider like Jeff Stone could claim to support a project he tried to end,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Friday. “Jeff Stone seems to be following in the footsteps of his patron Scott Walker when it comes to warping the truth.”
