MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate regarding Scott Walker’s “State of the State” address.
“He squandered opportunities to focus on jobs in his special session and likewise Scott Walker lost another chance tonight to talk straight with Wisconsin. That’s because Walker was long on talk and short on specifics. And he avoided any discussion of the underlying and emerging theme of his administration, which is an about-face from a 21st Century economy toward a backward period in which Wisconsin’s fundamentals are lowered to appease a greedy few special interests. Walker paid lip service to optimism, but neglected to say that the only group that should feel so under his dangerous priorities are those who already have more than enough. We are seeing clearly that, from education to the environment to the modern economy, Scott Walker has put Wisconsin’s high standards in peril.”
