MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate following news of the criminal complaint announced today against a major Scott Walker contributor.
“The news that a major contributor to Scott Walker allegedly used illegal methods to funnel more than $60,000 to a Walker campaign eager to have them is disturbing news to anyone who has watched his young and flailing administration. After all, we already know Walker’s bald enthusiasm for rewarding campaign contributors at the expense of the people of Wisconsin.
But today’s revelations beg questions, which Walker must answer to the people of Wisconsin, about exactly what kind of environment Walker’s campaign created to attract these kind of illegal monies.
Walker has a long history of playing fast and loose with ethics and his “Koch” brother call showed the world his willingness to flirt with the law as well. As the investigation at hand unfolds, Scott Walker must do more than pay lip service to his pledges to transparency. He must show Wisconsin just what he has been up to.”
