MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate following the Republican vote today to sunder the Wisconsin Covenant.
“They have found hundreds of millions of dollars for capital fund managers, for oil corporations and for for-profit diploma mills, but Scott Walker Republicans today voted today to put their hatred of Jim Doyle before the education of Wisconsin’s students. No amount of aid is too good for the people who already have succeeded who need it least, but the next generation of Wisconsinites will need to fend for themselves in a Republican dystopia where wages and benefits are driven down, where opportunity is fleeting, where the tax burden breaks the back of the middle class and where education is treated like a sickness rather than as a cure.”
