Scott Walker's Plans to Kill SeniorCare Stalled – For the Moment

May 17, 2011

MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on the temporary retreat by Senate Republicans on Scott Walker’s plans to kill SeniorCare.

“With their political fortunes in the balance, Senate Republicans have stopped for a moment in their lockstep march with Scott Walker and his plans to kill SeniorCare. For months, they have not listened to the people of Wisconsin when it came to education, our university system, investments in new technology and health care. They have, only for the moment, drawn back on the dangerous, but deeply-held belief that seniors should be forced to choose between food and life-saving drugs. But make no mistake: This is only a temporary position on SeniorCare made for political expediency. Today’s move was a ruse and a smokescreen. As long as Scott Walker and the Republicans are in power, SeniorCare remains in peril.”
