MADISON – A newly released poll from Public Policy Polling shows that also-ran former Governor Tommy Thompson is increasingly vulnerable on the right, greatly diminishing his chances of success in earning the Republican nomination in the Wisconsin Senate race.

“We knew that Democrats and moderates would reject a Tommy Thompson Senate run based on his shady special interest deals at his Washington DC lobbying firm, as well as his support for Scott Walker’s radical agenda and Paul Ryan’s Medicare-ending budget,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Wednesday. “But now it would seem that his own party doesn’t even want him. Perhaps Tommy Thompson could better serve Wisconsin by renewing his previous advocacy for health care reform instead of clamoring to win the approval of a Republican Party full of right-wing extremists who will never support his candidacy.”
