Where is "Toxic" Scott Walker on Recall Weekend?

Aug 06, 2011

MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on the absence of Scott Walker from Republican recall campaigns heading into Tuesday’s historic election.

“From his embarrassing taped phone conversations to his preening before national television reporters to arrogantly comparing himself to Ronald Reagan, it is clear that Scott Walker was in the midst of a passionate and epic love affair with himself. No matter that to advance his profile with the national press, he would have to dismantle Wisconsin’s middle class.

But a funny thing happened on the way to “Fox & Friends.” As the people of Wisconsin stand vigil on the eve of historic recall elections, Scott Walker has gone missing. Is he back shaking down K Street lobbyists in Washington? Is he off on a ranch with his Koch Brothers patrons? One thing is clear, he is not out campaigning with the Republican senators who slavishly followed him and supported his agenda. He does not even appear in their campaign literature or basic material.

It seems that having finally gotten what he wanted, an election that is all about HIM, Scott Walker has suspended his self-regard in a moment of expediency and has come to the realization that he’s, well, toxic.”
