MADISON-Speaking at a recent Tea Party rally, a freshman Republican member of the Assembly called President Barack Obama “a lunatic.” Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate in response.
“The personal animus of the extreme members of Scott Walker’s Republican party toward the president is no secret, but the depth of their vitriol is not constructive in the midst of economic crisis. The president has called for Republicans and Democrats to set aside this very type of rhetoric. The type of language used by Rep. Litjens does not create a single job in Wisconsin – only action does. Last week President Obama called on Republicans in Congress to take action. I would encourage Republicans both here and in Washington to work with Democrats to strengthen the middle class.”
