MADISON – Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate following reports that Tommy Thompson will announce his candidacy for the U.S. Senate race.
“After months of being flat-out rejected by Scott Walker’s radical Republican Party, Tommy Thompson has finally embraced extremism and thrown his hat into the ring for the U.S. Senate race.
In a shameless attempt to hide his record raising taxes and doubling state spending while he was governor, Tommy Thompson is now pandering to the Tea Party by rubber stamping an extreme plan that protects giveaways to special interests and tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.”
