Reid Ribble Gives Koch Brothers’ Americans For Prosperity 100 Percent Return on Investment

Jan 11, 2012

MADISON – The Koch Brothers’ right-wing smear machine Americans For Prosperity on Tuesday released its mid-term Congressional scorecard, and Congressman Reid Ribble (R-Roofing), topped the list with a 100 percent, A+ rating, voting the way Americans for Prosperity wanted him to in every single instance.

The scorecard, which can be viewed here, evaluated members of Congress on their signing of AFP’s “No Climate Tax” pledge, as well as “critical votes on such issues as the repeal of President Obama’s new health care law, preempting EPA’s purported authority to regulate greenhouse gases, Chairman Paul Ryan’s budget framework, ending ethanol subsidies, several Congressional Review Act resolutions of disapproval to overturn new regulations and the fiscal year 2012 appropriations bills.”

According to the release, AFP provided advanced notice to members of Congress that a specific vote would be scored, as well as its policy rationale for supporting or opposing a vote.

Ribble’s unyielding devotion to the Koch Brothers’ agenda comes after Americans for Prosperity and its related organization, the Americans for Prosperity Foundation, in the 2010 election cycle spent $274,267 in Wisconsin’s eighth congressional district on attacks against Ribble’s opponent, Dr. Steve Kagen.

“Reid Ribble’s time in Washington has been marked by a complete failure to focus on jobs and an allegiance to the wealthy special interests that financed his campaign instead of the people he was elected to represent,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Thursday. “That he is now shown to be a bought-and-paid for shill for the Koch Brothers is further proof that Ribble’s intention was never to fight for the hardworking people of Wisconsin’s 8thCongressional District, but to advance the Tea Party’s radical agenda at all costs. Americans for Prosperity got a 100 percent return on their investment in Reid Ribble.”
