Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate in response to Tuesday’s decision by the Government Accountability Board to cease the wasteful OCR project and, hopefully, return to established standards for recall petition verification.
“Scott Walker has clearly sought to stall the recall process. And though we regret the three weeks wasted on the so-called “OCR project,” we are hopeful that the Government Accountability Board will be returning to a reasonable focus that will, in turn, place the recall process on a timeline fair to the million Wisconsin citizens who have called for an election. If and when they make such moves toward efficiency, it will increase their prospects of complying with a judge’s order to get this done quickly, rather than fall prey to Scott Walker’s “Recall Stall” tactics.”
