MADISON – Just months after reality tee-vee star Sean Duffy claimed that he was “struggling” on his $174,000 a year Congressional pay, the lawyer son, grandson, brother and nephew of lawyers was introducing a phony pay ploy meant exactly to distract from his embarrassing and out-of-touch claims.
Duffy, whose wife has said the family regularly flies in sushi for Christmas, told MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell that his claims about his pay were taken out-of-context because, when he said he knew what it was like for north woods families to struggle, he was referring to the period in between his healthy pay as a District Attorney and his huge payday as a Congressman.
Duffy made the claims as he was introducing legislation to piggyback on Democratic efforts to rein in government spending, a distraction obviously meant to distract from his earlier gaffe.

“Sean Duffy wants to pretend that he knows what it’s like for the people who have lost their jobs from his support for corporations that ship jobs to China. He wants people to think that he knows what it’s like for those folks whose families rely on Social Security and Medicare, even while he seeks to destroy those programs. He wants to talk about hard work, when there is every indication that he was a lazy District Attorney who spent his time working on his campaign,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Thursday.
“For “Struggling” Sean Duffy to claim he knows the economic pain felt by the rest of the working families of the north woods shows someone with a ‘sushi budget’ who is out-of-touch with people who have hot dogs for supper. Sean Duffy is a phony.”
