ICYMI: Video of Scott Walker Promising Negotiation with Unions Over Compensation Benefits, Collective Bargaining

Mar 04, 2012

Flying in the face of his recent and ridiculous ad “Promises Kept,” a video has surfaced that shows Scott Walker promising to negotiate with state unions on compensation benefits and their right to collective bargaining. Clearly, however, this was just another of the many lies Walker told to get elected.

In the video from his 2010 gubernatorial campaign, Walker is shown talking with the editorial board of The Oshkosh Northwestern.

When asked, “Before, we were talking about state employees contributing to their plan, paying their share of the pension plan. Collective bargaining come into that?” to which Walker calmly and quickly replies, “Yep” and nods yes.

Then, when asked, “How do you get that negotiated and accepted by the state employee unions?” Walker again quickly replies, “You still have to negotiate it. I did that at the county as well, where I’ve had some of my employee unions have agreed to it. Others have not.”

Given the way Walker stripped public employees’ rights to collectively bargain from them and forced other compensation plans on them without negotiation, this video proves his true intent was to deceive Wisconsin voters.
