Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate following the announcement by President of the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Mahlon Mitchell that he will seek the nomination to replace Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch.
“In his professional life, Mahlon Mitchell is a first responder. That’s why it was inspiring to watch him and his brother and sister firefighters rush in to respond to the emergency caused by Scott Walker’s extreme agenda. Few will forget the stand he made for all of Wisconsin, and he continues this fight in his bid to be a lieutenant governor who doesn’t rely on empty slogans or phony pandering, but understands that our elected officials must serve everyone, not just the super-rich.
We welcome Mahlon Mitchell into the race as part of the larger movement to stop Scott Walker’s radical agenda and to let Wisconsin be Wisconsin again.”
