Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on the announcement of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett that he would seek the Democratic nomination to replace Gov. Scott Walker.
“In the Legislature, the Congress and as Milwaukee Mayor, Tom Barrett has fought hard but with a spirit of honesty and decency for the values that have made Wisconsin great. His entry into the gubernatorial race adds another strong candidate who believes that Wisconsin must turn away from Scott Walker’s policies of reckless greed and hunger for power and return to an agenda that values working men and women, our ages-old freedoms and those institutions that have made us the greatest state in the nation.”
