Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike in response to Monday’s tax gimmick announcement by Washington lobbyist and multimillionaire Tommy Thompson.
“Once again Tommy Thompson is showing his desire to make Washington work for him, not Wisconsin. Thompson’s flat tax gimmick would result in a massive tax break for wealthy people like himself, while largely ignoring the needs of the middle class.”
“Tommy Thompson should release his tax forms to let the public know just how much he stands to gain with this gimmick. Thompson’s reckless self-interest will only lead to more debt and deficit, all while putting Social Security, Medicare, and national security at risk.”
