Richard Nixon’s former White House Counsel John Dean says in a column today in The Capital Times that Scott Walker, facing a growing criminal corruption probe, is actually “more Nixonian than Nixon.”
Dean’s key findings relating to Walker’s actions as governor:
- Has an authoritarian personality and seeks to dominate others
- Opposes equality
- Seeks personal power
- Acts amorally while wrapping himself in a cloak of morality
- Is notorious for lying
“Richard Nixon was a figure obsessed with secrecy and willing to break laws to hold on to power. It should frighten the citizens of Wisconsin that someone in a position to know, John Dean, thinks that those tendencies that led to alarming behavior by Nixon are even more concentrated in Scott Walker,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Monday.
