MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate in response to the Court of Appeals ruling that means that Republican attempts to limit voter access will not be in effect for Scott Walker’s June 5th recall.
“Once again, Wisconsin has been given a temporary reprieve from the efforts by Scott Walker and his Tea Party extremists to keep eligible voters from being able to exercise their franchise. Until Scott Walker, Wisconsin has always expanded voting rights, from being the first state to ratify suffrage to extending freedoms for young people. The efforts to actually roll back these freedoms, change the rules and limit the rights that people have fought and died for offend our best traditions. We once again call on Scott Walker and Republicans to use this period before the lawsuit is adjudicated to show some leadership and value our freedoms.”
