Following the breaking news of evidence that Scott Walker obstructed the John Doe corruption probe that has implicated dozens of his top political allies, Walker doubled-down on his self-serving lie that he had cooperated with the probe.
Asked directly about the news that court documents showed investigators had NOT received cooperation from Walker and his administration, Walker had THIS to say.
“This is nothing new. I asked for this investigation from my office. The DA is working with us. I am not a target. We’ve been trying to help with this. I’m upholding the law, listening to the rules…. When I heard about it, I took action.”
In fact, the new report from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel shows exactly the opposite, with investigators stonewalled by Walker at every turn.
“It may be the County Executive’s Office is reluctant to provide information to investigators due to a fear of political embarrassment,” one prosecutor wrote.
In response to the stonewalling report, Walker’s campaign spokesperson incredibly attacked prosecutors, contradicting what was written in a sealed document two years ago.
“Scott Walker had an opportunity to come clean about his lack of cooperation with a criminal corruption probe that has seen 19 of his top aides and supporters either granted immunity, charged with felonies or pleading guilty to criminal acts. Now we have Scott Walker’s campaign attacking the prosecution itself, which represents another unethical “first” in Wisconsin’s history,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Friday. “The people of Wisconsin need a governor that creates jobs, not attacks prosecutors.”
