Prosecutors Seek State Records, Information About Current Walker Administration
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting that the John Doe criminal corruption probe into current and former aides to Scott Walker has expanded from Milwaukee County into the state Capitol, as prosecutors seek records from both the Governor’s office as well as another state agency.
According to the article, “Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney David Robles on June 18 made an open records request to both Walker’s office and the state Department of Administration for all communications “related to the designation and determination of individuals as ‘key professional staff’ of the Office of the Governor” since the time Walker took office on Jan. 3, 2011.”
“With the information that has already come out of the John Doe criminal corruption probe, the people know that Scott Walker’s County administration operated a shadow government that subverted open records laws and used taxpayer resources to illegally campaign for Scott Walker,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Thursday. “Now that prosecutors appear to have expanded the scope of their investigation to Walker’s current administration, we should be concerned that the same criminal culture has tainted our state government as well.”
