Following is the Labor Day statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate:
“Labor Day 2012, as we head to Charlotte to re-nominate our president and work to send Tammy Baldwin to the Senate, we take this long weekend to remember that, for Wisconsin’s working families, it is the union that makes them strong.
“The latest struggles have reminded union and non-union households alike that the floor for our standards were fought and died for generations ago — and are just as worthy of defense today.
“A strong middle class requires a strong labor movement and the rebirth of activism Wisconsin has seen in recent years provides us with an opportunity to re-commit to these basic principles of fairness and solidarity.”
