Paul Ryan in DePere Today Also Skimps on Details
Reuters is today reporting that even fellow conservatives are hammering Mitt Romney over his unwillingness to level with the American people about details of his tax plan and the effects it would have on working families.
After struggling to explain which tax loopholes he would close, and avoiding saying how he would pay for massive tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, Romney is under fire from even William Kristol, the conservative editor of the Weekly Standard, who stated, “When a challenger merely appeals to disappointment with the incumbent and tries to reassure voters he’s not too bad an alternative that isn’t generally a formula for victory.”
Paul Ryan echoed Mitt Romney’s silence today in DePere, refusing to answer the most basic questions about how the Romney-Ryan plan would pay for tax breaks for the wealthy.
“Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan’s tax plan fails basic math, and even fellow conservatives know it,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Wednesday. “In order to cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans, they’ve got to raise revenue somewhere else to make up the difference. The problem is, their “somewhere else” is working families and neither Romney nor Ryan will admit it. But hey, if I was running on a plan to pay for tax cuts for billionaires with tax increases on working families, I’d want to keep my mouth shut too.”
