The Capital Times is reporting that Scott Walker’s own Dept. of Revenue predicts Walker will fail at his central promise to create 250,000 new jobs.
The latest jobs analysis comes just days after Forbes ranked Scott Walker’s Wisconsin as one of the nation’s ten worst states for business, and after a damaging audit revealed a wide-ranging scandal at Walker’s quasi-public job creation agency.
Citing the Walker administration’s projections, The Capital Times reports that, “Wisconsin won’t come anywhere close to hitting Gov. Scott Walker’s “250,000 new jobs” target by the November 2014 election,” and that the state, “will end up adding 38,000 jobs for 2011 and 2012, far fewer than Walker’s recent — and highly questionable — claim that the state has created more than 80,000 jobs during his first two years in office.”
“Scott Walker ran twice on the central promise to create 250,000 new Wisconsin jobs, and by even his own account, is failing miserably,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Friday. “Not only has Wisconsin under-performed the rest of the Midwest region in job creation under Scott Walker, Wisconsin for the first time led the nation in job loss on Walker’s watch. Scott Walker’s combination of corruption, incompetence and extremism is a threat to Wisconsin’s economic recovery.”
