Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate in response to the ruling Monday by a federal panel ordering Wisconsin Republicans to turn over three computers that are part of legal challenges to their illegal redistricting process.
“The 2012 elections saw 200,000 more Democratic votes for Assembly and large majorities for statewide elections and yet Republicans maintained a stranglehold on the Legislature. This was the fruit of the poisoned tree, where Republicans engaged in an unprecedented redistricting process that was created in darkness and done not for the good of the people of Wisconsin, but for the good of the Republican Party of Wisconsin.
“Taxpayers are footing the bill for Republicans to continue to commit “fraud, misrepresentation or misconduct,” as this dirty little story is coming to the light of the courts. There is a reason Scott Walker and his Party are failing at job creation and that is because they are most interested in concentrating power for their special interests instead of representing the democratic will of Wisconsin. Monday’s ruling represents yet another ethical low in Scott Walker’s Wisconsin, yet holds the promise that Republican misconduct might be corrected.”
