Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on the latest Republican voter suppression attempt.
“Even as courts have repeatedly found Scott Walker’s extreme voter suppression proposals in violation of our constitution, Republicans keep going back to the drawing board in search of an end-around that will allow them to legalize their attempts to rig the game in their favor.
“This time, Republicans are looking to fast-track a change that will erect further barriers for eligible Wisconsin voters, including seniors and veterans, seeking to exercise their rights at the ballot box.
“But as public support for Scott Walker’s failed agenda continues to plummet, we’re confident that Wisconsinites will see this latest round of voting restrictions for what it really is — a cynical ploy to keep voters away from the polls.”
